Battlefield 6 Beta Dominates Twitch and Steam, Outperforms Call of Duty

Battlefield 6 Beta Takes the Gaming World by Storm

The highly anticipated beta for Battlefield 6 has arrived with an explosive impact, immediately dominating streaming platforms and digital storefronts. Within mere hours of its launch, the game soared to the top of Twitch, gathering an unprecedented audience for the series—over 800,000 concurrent viewers. This surge of attention has not only revitalized the franchise but also allowed it to outpace nearly every Call of Duty title, with the sole exception of Warzone.

Battlefield Reclaims Its Spot

After almost a decade of inconsistent releases, the Battlefield series finally seems poised for a triumphant return. Battlefield 6 is currently being actively streamed by some of the most popular content creators, and viewers are eagerly awaiting the beta's general availability. Part of this intense interest in Twitch broadcasts can be attributed to the opportunity to gain access to the closed beta through Twitch Drops.

Here’s how Battlefield 6 stacks up against Call of Duty titles in terms of peak viewership on Twitch:
  • Call of Duty: Warzone – 1,613,626
  • Battlefield 6 – 844,723
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – 751,937
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – 705,050
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – 481,586
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – 444,866

Compared to previous Battlefield installments, Battlefield 6 also shows impressive numbers:
  • Battlefield 2042 – 340,491
  • Battlefield V – 287,254
  • Battlefield 1 – 258,343

For additional context, here are the peak concurrent viewers for other popular shooters:
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege – 583,166
  • PUBG: Battlegrounds – 597,663
  • Escape from Tarkov – 566,684
  • Overwatch – 634,296

Currently, Battlefield 6 is only trailing Warzone, but with the weekend approaching, if the hype continues, the new shooter could very well break that record too.

Battlefield 6 Becomes the Most Played Battlefield on Steam

The open beta for Battlefield 6 hasn't even become widely available yet, but it has already set a new record: over 334,000 players were concurrently playing the destruction-focused shooter on Steam. This is more than twice the peak of Battlefield 2042's beta and three times higher than the full release of 2042. Battlefield 6, before its official launch, has already surpassed all previous entries in the series for concurrent players on Steam.

While the beta is currently in early access, it will be available for everyone to try starting August 9th. This means the numbers could climb even higher. For comparison:
  • Battlefield 2042 (beta) – 156,665 concurrent players
  • Battlefield 2042 (release) – 107,376 concurrent players
  • Battlefield 6 (beta, early access) – 334,549 concurrent players

The game has already entered the top 40 most popular games on Steam of all time, even surpassing titles like Starfield and Elden Ring: Nightreign. While not all past Battlefield games launched on Steam from day one like Battlefield 2042, this is still an incredibly impressive start for Battlefield 6.

Players can join the beta festivities from August 9th to 10th, and again from August 14th to 17th. Early access players have already had a taste of what's to come. The full release of Battlefield 6 is scheduled for October 10th on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
