Apex Legends Kicks Off Galactic Games Event with Wall Running and More
Respawn Entertainment has announced the start of the Apex Legends "Galactic Games" event, a three-week spectacle set to run from August 19 to September 9. This limited-time event introduces a fresh "Wild Card" mechanic to the popular Wildcard game mode, new tactical items, and the highly anticipated, fan-favorite ability: wall running.
Swing for the Fences with the Grand Slam Bat
During the Galactic Games, players will have the chance to wield the formidable "Grand Slam Bat." This heavy-hitting melee weapon, readily available in the Wildcard mode without unlocking, delivers significant damage and can even knock back enemies. Land three successful hits, and its power amplifies, potentially sending multiple opponents flying.
Players can acquire both a temporary version for the event mode and a permanent, universal Grand Slam Bat. The permanent version remains in your inventory long after the event concludes and can be customized using Exotic Shards, offering three unique appearances and a special death box effect.
Game-Changing Wild Cards & Wall Running
The core of the Galactic Games event lies in its new "Wild Card" items, which can be crafted at Replicators. These special items grant various combat advantages, fundamentally altering gameplay:
- Mad Dash: A quick forward lunge.
- Recharge: Regenerate shields while running.
- Personal Space: Enhanced knockback from melee attacks.
- Hard Strike: Increased melee damage.
- Status Report: Display enemy locations upon knocking them out.
